Postpartum Lymphatic Drainage Massage — Jefferson Valley, NY
Birth changes everything — including how your body holds fluid. Rosaura Loaiza, RN, MLT performs every postpartum session, combining 25+ years of clinical nursing experience with specialized lymphatic-therapy training. Working under the medical direction of Dr. Mrudangi Thakur, our gentle, OB-aware protocols help new moms ease swelling, hormonal puffiness, and post-delivery heaviness so you can rest, recover, and feel like yourself again.
We ask that you have OB clearance before your first session — typically around your 6-week postpartum check-up, or once your C-section incision is fully healed. Postpartum lymphatic drainage is not appropriate during active mastitis or infection. If you're unsure whether it's the right time, call us and we'll help you decide.

Why It Matters
Care for the Postpartum Body
After birth, your body is doing two jobs at once — healing, and adjusting.
Postpartum fluid retention, swelling in the legs and arms, hormonal puffiness, and a feeling of overall heaviness are all completely normal — and completely exhausting. Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a very gentle, rhythmic technique that helps your lymphatic system clear excess fluid more efficiently, easing pressure and discomfort while you heal.
At LVB MedSpa, every postpartum session is performed by Rosaura Loaiza, RN, MLT — combining 25+ years of clinical nursing experience with specialized lymphatic-therapy training. Working under the medical direction of Dr. Mrudangi Thakur, our protocols are tailored to your delivery type and where your body is in its recovery.
Specialized Protocols
Tailored To Your Recovery
Every birth is different. Our protocols are tailored to your delivery and where your body is in its postpartum journey.
C-Section Recovery
After Cesarean DeliveryC-section recovery often comes with localized fluid retention near the incision and lower abdomen, plus full-body heaviness from IV fluids and limited movement. Gentle lymphatic drainage works carefully around the healed incision to ease pressure and help fluid clear more comfortably.
After OB clearance and once your incision is fully healed (typically 6+ weeks). Many moms book 5–10 sessions across the early postpartum window.
Vaginal Birth Recovery
After Vaginal DeliveryAfter a vaginal birth, many moms experience swelling in the legs and feet, hormonal puffiness, and a feeling of fullness everywhere. Lymphatic drainage helps move that fluid efficiently while you focus on feeding, sleeping, and bonding.
Once you have OB clearance — often around the 6-week postpartum check-up. A 3–5 session package works well for most.
Hormonal Fluid Retention
For the Long Postpartum WindowPostpartum hormones can keep fluid lingering for months — long after the early weeks. If your rings still don't fit, your ankles still puff up, or you just feel heavy and slow, gentle lymphatic drainage can help your body finish the work it started.
Anytime after OB clearance — including months after birth. Many moms book a maintenance session every few weeks.

What to Expect
A general guide to your postpartum lymphatic drainage timeline. Rosita will customize this to your delivery and how your body is healing.
Rest, Heal, Get Cleared
The first few weeks are for resting, feeding, and letting your body do its early healing work. We don't book postpartum sessions during this window — we wait for your OB to clear you (and for any C-section incision to fully heal) before starting.
What we ask: bring written or verbal OB clearance to your first visitYour First Sessions
Your first session is the gentlest. We assess where you're holding fluid, check in on comfort and breastfeeding, and move fluid carefully toward healthy lymph nodes. Most moms feel lighter and less puffy almost immediately after.
Frequency: 1–2× per week works well for mostSteady Recovery
As fluid retention eases, sessions shift toward steady maintenance — addressing lingering puffiness, easing tightness, and giving you a quiet hour to rest. Many moms tell us this is the only hour of the week that's just for them.
Frequency: every 1–2 weeksLong-Term Maintenance
Postpartum hormones can keep fluid lingering for many months. Monthly maintenance sessions help your body finish clearing what it's been carrying — and give you a regular pause that's just about you.

Real Results
"I felt heavy and puffy for months after my daughter was born. After three sessions with Rosita, my rings fit again and I just felt like myself. She was so gentle and the room is so calming — it was the most rest I'd had in weeks."
"I was nervous about anyone touching my stomach after my C-section, but Rosita was incredibly careful and worked completely around the incision. The fluid in my legs went down so much. I'm telling every postpartum mom I know."
"Rosita made it so easy — she let me nurse before the session, the room was quiet, and she adjusted positioning so I was comfortable the whole time. I left lighter and so much less puffy. It was the gift I needed to give myself."

Common Questions
Everything You Need to Know Before Booking
When should I book my first postpartum session?
As soon as you have OB clearance — typically around your 6-week check-up. For C-section moms, we also wait until the incision is fully healed. If you're unsure, call us at (914) 639-2429 and we'll talk through your timing.
Can I bring my baby?
For your comfort and safety on the table, we ask that you arrange childcare for your session. Many moms tell us this hour is the only time they get to fully rest — we want it to feel that way for you, too.
What should I expect at my first session?
A brief intake about your delivery and how you're feeling, followed by a gentle, flowing massage using very light pressure. The room is quiet and warm. Most moms notice reduced puffiness and a sense of lightness right away. Wear loose, comfortable clothing.
Is it painful?
No. Lymphatic drainage is exceptionally gentle — much lighter than a regular massage. There's no deep pressure. Postpartum bodies are treated with extra care, especially around the abdomen, breasts, and any healing incision.
Will it interfere with breastfeeding?
No. Lymphatic drainage doesn't affect milk supply. Many of our postpartum clients are nursing and tell us they feel just as comfortable feeding before and after their session.
