"Your results are shaped in the weeks after surgery."

— LVB MedSpa Team

Why It Matters

The Secret to Beautiful Results

Your surgeon creates the shape. Lymphatic massage reveals it.

Post-surgical swelling, fluid retention, and fibrosis (hardening of tissue) are natural — but they can distort your results and cause discomfort for months if left unaddressed. Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a specialized, gentle massage technique that activates the lymphatic system to flush excess fluid, reduce inflammation, and prevent scar tissue from forming beneath the skin.

At LVB MedSpa, our certified aestheticians are trained specifically in post-op MLD protocols for cosmetic surgery recovery — working in sync with your surgeon's timeline.

Specialized Protocols

We Specialize In Your Surgery

Each procedure creates unique post-op needs. Our protocols are tailored to your specific surgery type.

01

BBL Recovery

Brazilian Butt Lift

After fat transfer to the buttocks, lymphatic drainage is critical to help the body integrate transferred fat and reduce swelling in both the donor sites (abdomen, flanks, thighs) and the treated area.

Recommended Start Time

As early as 3–5 days post-op. Most clients benefit from 6–10 sessions in the first 6 weeks.

02

Lipo 360

Circumferential Liposuction

Lipo 360 treats the full midsection — abdomen, waist, back, and flanks — leaving significant fluid and swelling across a large surface area. Consistent lymphatic drainage is key to a smooth, even result.

Recommended Start Time

Days 3–7 post-op, pending surgeon clearance. 8–12 sessions recommended across 8 weeks.

03

Tummy Tuck

Abdominoplasty

Abdominoplasty creates significant fluid buildup along the abdominal wall and can affect lymphatic drainage pathways long-term. Targeted MLD helps reduce seroma risk, softens the scar, and restores circulation.

Recommended Start Time

Typically week 2–3 post-op once drains are removed. 10–14 sessions over 3 months is common.

Your Recovery Journey

What to Expect

A general guide to your post-op lymphatic massage timeline. Your aesthetician will customize this to your surgery and how your body is healing.

Days 3 – 7

First Session

Your first lymphatic massage is the gentlest. We assess your swelling, drain sites, and comfort level — moving fluid carefully away from congested areas toward healthy lymph nodes.

What you'll notice: immediate reduction in tightness & pressure
Weeks 1 – 3

Active Swelling Phase

This is the most critical window. We recommend 2–3 sessions per week to stay ahead of fluid accumulation, prevent early fibrosis, and keep inflammation moving out of the tissue.

Frequency: 2–3× per week for maximum benefit
Weeks 4 – 6

Maintenance & Contouring

Swelling begins to stabilize. Sessions shift focus to refining contour, breaking up any areas of early fibrosis (lumps, hardness), and encouraging skin retraction for a smoother final result.

Frequency: 1–2× per week
Months 2 – 3

Final Results Emerging

As swelling fully resolves, your true results become visible. Monthly maintenance sessions help address lingering fibrosis and ensure your results are as smooth and even as possible.

Frequency: 2–4× per month as needed

Common Questions

Post-Op FAQ

Most clients can begin as early as 3–7 days post-op, depending on your surgeon's clearance. BBL patients can often start sooner; tummy tuck patients typically wait until drains are removed (usually week 2–3). Always get your surgeon's approval first — we're happy to coordinate with your surgical team.
It depends on your surgery, your body, and your goals. For BBL or lipo 360, most clients see optimal results with 6–10 sessions in the first 6 weeks. Tummy tuck clients often continue for 10–14 sessions over 3 months. We'll assess your swelling and progress at each visit and recommend the right cadence.
Post-op lymphatic massage is very gentle — it uses light, rhythmic pressure, not deep tissue techniques. Most clients report significant relief from pressure and tightness during and after sessions. We always check in on your comfort level and adjust for your stage of healing. Any existing soreness typically feels better, not worse, after treatment.
Fibrosis is the formation of scar tissue beneath the skin that can feel like hard lumps, bumps, or unevenness after liposuction or surgery. Starting lymphatic drainage early — within the first few weeks — is one of the most effective ways to prevent fibrosis from forming. Existing fibrosis can also be softened with targeted MLD and ultrasound techniques we offer.
Absolutely. Many of our clients have surgery in Colombia, Miami, or other cosmetic surgery hubs and come to us for their recovery care here in Westchester. We're experienced in coordinating aftercare with surgeons remotely and will follow your post-op instructions closely.
Yes — we accept CareCredit, Zelle, and Venmo. Our packages are also structured to provide per-session savings when you commit to your recovery upfront. Call us to discuss options that fit your budget.
📅 Don't wait to book. Post-op spots fill quickly — especially in weeks 1–3 when demand is highest. Call (914) 639-2429 or book online to secure your recovery plan.

Common Questions

Everything You Need to Know Before Booking

How soon after surgery can I start lymphatic massage?

Typically 3–5 days post-procedure, once your surgeon clears you. We work closely with your surgical team and can coordinate the timing of your sessions for optimal recovery. Some surgeons recommend starting as early as Day 3.

How many sessions will I need?

Most post-op clients benefit from 6–12 sessions, with the first 3 sessions in the initial 2 weeks after surgery. Chronic and wellness clients typically schedule weekly or bi-weekly. We'll recommend a personalized plan during your first visit.

What should I expect at my first session?

Your first session includes a brief intake to understand your history and goals, followed by a gentle, flowing massage using specialized techniques. Sessions are relaxing — most clients notice reduced swelling and puffiness immediately after. Wear comfortable, loose clothing.

Is it painful?

Lymphatic drainage is exceptionally gentle — much lighter than a regular massage. There is no deep pressure. Post-surgical clients with tenderness are always treated with extra care and adjusted pressure.

Do you work with my surgeon?

Yes. Our team regularly coordinates with surgeons across Westchester and NYC. We're happy to communicate directly with your surgical team and tailor your sessions to their post-op protocol.
